The 10-Day Intensive
Curriculum Overview
Day 1: Foundations & Anatomy in Motion
These first two days bridge your pre-course anatomy learning with real movement.
Students develop a deep understanding of the body as an integrated system, exploring posture, alignment, breath mechanics and core engagement.
Through guided movement and practical application, you will learn how anatomy directly informs exercise execution, cueing and injury-aware teaching.
Days 2-3: Repertoire & Movement Mechanics
Students begin learning and experiencing the classical Pilates repertoire across both mat and reformer.
The focus is not only on how to perform the exercises, but why they exist, understanding their purpose, biomechanics and the movement patterns they develop.
You will explore:
- Foundational to intermediate repertoire
- Correct setup and execution
- Exercise goals and muscle initiation
- Regressions, progressions and common faults
Days 4-5: Cueing, Teaching & Client Communication
These days focus on developing the skills required to teach with clarity and confidence.
Students learn how to:
- Deliver effective verbal and tactile cueing
- Observe and analyse movement patterns
- Recognise compensation strategies
- Adapt exercises in real time for different bodies
You will begin practicing teaching in small groups while receiving detailed instructor feedback.
Days 8-9: Teaching Practicum
The final two days bring everything together through guided teaching practice and assessment.
Students teach longer sequences and receive feedback.
Focus:
- Teaching confidence
- Cue clarity
- Pacing and flow
- Adapting in real time
This practical experience ensures graduates leave the course feeling confident, capable and ready to teach.
Day 10: Final Assessment & Certification
Students complete:
- Teach real sessions
- Receive personalised instructor feedback
- Refine cueing and observation skills
- Complete their final teaching assessment

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need prior Pilates experience to enroll?
Yes. This is a professional teacher training program, not a beginner Pilates course. Applicants should already have a consistent personal Pilates practice and a basic understanding of foundational movements.
Many of our students come from backgrounds such as Pilates enthusiasts, fitness professionals, yoga teachers, physiotherapists, or movement practitioners.
If you're unsure whether your experience level is suitable, you're welcome to reach out to us before applying and we’ll guide you in the right direction.
What certification will I receive?
Upon successful completion of the course requirements, you will receive a Motus Pilates Teacher Training Certification.
Is this course internationally recognised?
The Motus Pilates Teacher Training certification is designed to meet the professional standards expected by many studios internationally. The course includes comprehensive training in anatomy, movement mechanics, programming and teaching methodology, alongside 200 hours of practical experience.
However, Pilates education is not governed by one universal body and requirements can vary depending on the country or studio you plan to work in. If you intend to register with a specific Pilates association or governing body, we recommend checking their individual requirements in advance.
Can I start teaching immediately after graduating?
Yes, once you have successfully completed the course requirements, final assessment and practical hours, you will be qualified to begin teaching Pilates.
That said, like any movement profession, confidence and skill continue to grow with experience. Many graduates begin by teaching small group classes, assisting in studios, or working alongside experienced instructors while continuing to refine their teaching style.
Motus also offers optional mentorship and one-on-one development sessions for graduates who want continued guidance as they begin teaching professionally.
What makes Motus different from other Pilates teacher trainings?
Motus Pilates Teacher Training is designed to be immersive, practical and deeply educational.
Rather than rushing through exercises, the course focuses on truly understanding how and why movement works, combining functional anatomy, biomechanics, programming and teaching methodology.
Key differences include:
- A small cohort structure allowing for individual feedback
- 200 hours of real teaching practice and observation
- A strong focus on movement quality and biomechanics
- An immersive 10-day training environment in Bali
- Ongoing mentorship and development opportunities
The goal is not just to teach the repertoire, but to develop confident, capable instructors who understand the body in motion.
How does payment work?
To secure your place in the course, a 50% deposit is required at the time of booking.
- Mat Course Deposit: $1,500
- Mat & Reformer Course Deposit: $2,000
The remaining balance is due one week before the Bali intensive begins.
Cohorts are intentionally kept small and spaces are allocated in the order deposits are received. If you have a preferred cohort date, we recommend securing your place early.
Is there a payment plan available?
We currently do not offer extended payment plans.
However, the course is structured in a two-stage payment system to make it more manageable, a deposit to secure your place, followed by the remaining balance closer to the course start date.
What does a typical day during the Bali intensive look like?
Each day combines theory, movement practice, and teaching application.
A typical training day may include:
- Morning movement practice
- Exercise breakdown and technical workshops
- Anatomy and biomechanics sessions
- Teaching drills and cueing practice
- Reformer or mat repertoire training
- Student teaching practice and feedback
Days are full and immersive, designed to help you absorb and apply the material in real time.
Do I need to complete the practical hours before the Bali intensive?
No. The 200 practical hours are completed after the intensive training.
The Bali intensive provides the foundational knowledge, teaching framework, and technical training required to begin logging these hours.
Following the course, students gradually complete:
- Teaching practice
- Observation hours
- Shadowing and assisting
All hours are logged in the Motus Teaching Logbook and verified before certification is issued.
Is accommodation included?
Accommodation is not included in the course fee.
However, Motus works closely with trusted local partners in Bali to provide curated accommodation recommendations across a range of budgets, from boutique villas to wellness-focused stays.
Once your place in the course is confirmed, you’ll receive a detailed guide with our recommended areas and accommodation options.
What does the online anatomy course involve?
Before arriving in Bali, students complete a 35-40 hour self-paced online anatomy course.
This course is designed specifically for Pilates instructors and focuses on:
- Functional anatomy for movement
- Postural analysis
- Biomechanics of Pilates exercises
- Understanding joints, muscles and movement patterns
Completing this foundational theory beforehand allows the in-person training to focus on application, teaching skills and movement mastery.
How much practical experience is included?
To graduate as a Motus instructor, students complete 200 hours of practical experience.
These hours are divided across:
- 80 hours - Teaching practice
- 60 hours - Observation of experienced instructors
- 60 hours - Shadowing and assisting
All hours are recorded in the Motus Teaching Logbook and must be completed and verified before certification is granted.
This practical component ensures graduates leave the course with real-world teaching confidence and experience.
How many students are in each cohort?
Cohorts are intentionally kept small and highly personalised.
- Maximum of 12 students per cohort
- Maximum of 9 students in the Mat & Reformer track
This allows for hands-on instruction, detailed feedback and a more immersive learning experience during the intensive.
What is the difference between the Mat and the Mat & Reformer courses?
Mat Certification
Covers the full classical Pilates mat repertoire, including:
- Exercise technique and progression
- Cueing and correction
- Programming and sequencing
- Anatomy and movement mechanics
Mat & Reformer Certification
Includes everything in the Mat certification, plus comprehensive reformer training:
- Reformer exercise repertoire
- Spring resistance theory
- Equipment setup and mechanics
- Reformer sequencing and transitions
If you plan to teach in a Pilates studio that uses reformers, the combined certification is generally the preferred pathway.
What are the mentorship and 1:1 add-ons?
After graduating, students have the option to continue their development through post-training mentorship or private one-on-one sessions.
These sessions are designed to help refine teaching skills, deepen movement understanding and support your transition into professional teaching.
Details, availability and pricing are shared with students after enrollment.
What is the final assessment?
To complete the certification, students must lead a 30-45 minute Pilates class assessed live the founder and lead instructor of Motus.
The assessment is graded across six key categories including:
- Movement execution
- Cueing and communication
- Sequencing and programming
- Teaching presence
- Safety and corrections
- Overall class flow
Students must achieve a minimum pass mark of 75% to graduate and receive detailed personal feedback following their assessment.
